What is it?

Steroid Injection therapy is a treatment that can be prescribed for the improvement of painful foot and ankle conditions that are associated with inflammation.

Injection therapy involves using a needle to inject a steroid into a joint space or soft tissue. Sometimes, by using a combination of corticosteroids (a powerful painkiller) and hyaluron (Ostenil™) it can help to reduce pain and inflammation or improve quality and joint range of motion.

An anaesthetic is usually injected before the main injection to ensure the procedure is as comfortable as possible

Injection therapy can have side effects, so it is important it is only administered by a professional podiatrist and used as part of a wider treatment strategy.

#TakeSteps to look after your feet

Walking the dog, taking the kids to school, running a marathon, or even running for a bus, we take thousands of steps in a day. In fact, we walk nearly 75,000 miles in a lifetime. Our feet bear the weight of our steps and keep us moving every day.
