Orthoses

What is it?

Orthotics is the branch of medicine that deals with the provision of artificial devices such as splints, braces, and insoles.

They are used to correct or treat injuries and other problems and condition within muscles, joints, and bones – not just of the feet but anywhere in the lower limb and back.

At Active Life Podiatry we use state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment for biomechanical assessments, and gait and running analysis.

Using the very latest technology we design and produce tailor-made 3D printed orthosis or orthoses (insoles or shoe inserts) on site at our Fulham clinic.

Orthoses work by changing forces coming from the ground and the shoe to the foot,  when you stand, walk or run. By altering these forces, orthoses can improve foot function and reduce any excessive forces and loads that lead or exacerbate foot and lower limb injury for both adults and children and for sports or everyday walking.

Who is it for?

Orthoses, or orthotic treatments are designed to help anyone experiencing foot, ankle, leg, or lower body pain. Whether you’re dealing with conditions like plantar fasciitis, heel pain, Achilles tendinopathy, neuromas, bunion-related discomfort, leg pain, runner’s knee, hip issues, or lower back pain. We’ve supported people of all activity levels and backgrounds to move more comfortably and live pain-free.

#TakeSteps to look after your feet

Walking the dog, taking the kids to school, running a marathon, or even running for a bus, we take thousands of steps in a day. In fact, we walk nearly 75,000 miles in a lifetime. Our feet bear the weight of our steps and keep us moving every day.
